Advanced Physics Projects (High School)
2018
In an advanced high school class I was tasked with completing a creative project every trimester. Being the hands-on student that I was I always wanted to build something. Below are the three projects that I designed and constructed with one other classmate. This is where I solidified my desire to become an engineer, and where I made lots of mistakes so I wouldn't have to make them again. Each project was documented in formalized reports with plans, images, and expenses.
Trebuchet
This 5' floating arm trebuchet was constructed using hand tools and successfully launched tennis balls upwards of 40 yards.
Motorized Tricycle
This tricycle was powered with a 79cc motor and was built around a bicycle fork and steer tube. The trike reached 20mph taking laps around my high school quad.
RC Hovercraft
This 18" hovercraft was constructed out of foam and used a tarp for the skirt. The hovercraft reached self destructive speeds while traveling on a basketball court.
